Exercise training for patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension

چکیده
Shortness of Breath 2014; 3 (4): 190-200 ly activity, reducing dyspnoea and fatigue, and enhancing the quality of life and muscle strength. So, the final message from the available literature reports is a strong recommendation to adopt exercise training and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation programs for any patient suffering from exertional dyspnoea and fatigue. Many questions remain unanswered regarding the optimization of the exercise training and rehabilitation programs. Ongoing rehabilitative trials in patients with PAH will help answer some of the remaining questions.

Background: Right Ventricular (RV) hypertrophy is an adaptive response to chronic RV pressure overload in patients with pulmonary hypertension. We investigated the relationships between RV hypertrophy indicators, including electrocardiography, the percentage oxygen saturation (SaO2%), body mass index (BMI), and blood uric acid levels in patients with...
متن کاملDemand for exercise training in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension in Scotland
The consensus statement and review recommended that exercise training of PAH patients should be undertaken by centres experienced in both the management of PAH and rehabilitation of compromised patients. Despite this, dedicated exercise training programmes do not exist in the UK and many other European countries. In these countries, exercise training is delivered to a small, unselected populati...
متن کاملTHE EFFECTS OF CAPTOPRIL ON PULMONARY AND SYS TEMIC ARTERIAL PRESSURES IN HIGHALTITUDE PULMONARY HYPERTENSION
The purpose of this investigation was to assess the effect of captopril on both systemic (P.a) and pulmonary arterial pressures (PPA) in patients with high-altitude pulmonary hypertension (HAPH). Seventeen patients (mean age 44±6.8 years) with HAPH and mild to moderate systemic arterial hypertension were included in the study. All patients underwent right heart catheterization with measurem...
متن کاملArrhythmias in Patients With Pulmonary Hypertension; A Narrative Review of the Current Literature
Incidence and prognostic relevance of supraventricular arrhythmias were evaluated in nine studies. These studies investigated patients with different forms of pulmonary hypertension. Supraventricular arrhythmias were more often found in patients with group two pulmonary hypertension. Common findings in these patients were elevated right atrial pressure and diameters and reduced tricuspid annula...

BACKGROUND The objective of this prospective study was to assess the efficacy of exercise training as add-on to medical therapy in patients with congenital heart disease associated pulmonary arterial hypertension (CHD-APAH). METHODS Patients with invasively confirmed CHD-APAH received in-hospital exercise training for 3 weeks and continued at home. Efficacy parameters were evaluated at baseli...
متن کاملExercise training improves physical fitness in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension: a systematic review and meta-analysis of controlled trials
